This study was about simplicity, restraint, and control. Just three leeks on dollar store green paper. Nothing styled. Nothing polished. The goal was form and texture.
The composition is deliberate. The main subject leads from left to right with root detail up front. The others are rhythm and support. Shot with a Nikon D810 and a 105mm macro at f16, the depth and shape are locked in.
Lighting was bare bones. One Einstein overhead with barndoors created sharp shadows and defined ridges. A second flash bounced off the ceiling to control contrast. No cards. No extras. The paper color was a cheap green — chosen on instinct, not palette theory.
What you get is a clean still life with clear structure. It is a personal piece, but the discipline translates to client work. This kind of exercise sharpens attention. It forces clarity. And it shows what can be done with very little, when the light and intent are tight.
